• The 20,000-ton crane “Tarzan” is currently the bridge crane with the largest lifting capacity in the world. This hoisting is the first official hoisting after the crane is put into operation. At 4:30 in the afternoon, the 14,000-ton deck module was hoisted as a whole and closed with the floating body of the semi-submersible platform. The successful hoisting for the first time marks the revolutionary innovation of the world ship and marine engineering construction mode, which is a milestone and has attracted the attention of the industry.

  The world’s largest “Tarzan” 20,000-ton bridge crane, the crane is designed to lift 20,160 tons, the overall height of the equipment is 118 meters, and the main beam span is 125 meters; it adopts a high and low double beam structure, and the lifting heights are 113 meters and 83 meters respectively. The whole machine has a total of 48 lifting points, and a single wire rope reaches 4,000 meters. It is the bridge-type lifting equipment with the largest lifting capacity, the largest span and the largest lifting height in the world. It is also the most technically difficult large-scale lifting equipment in the world. Heavy equipment, there has never been a lifting equipment with a lifting capacity of more than 10,000 tons at home and abroad. “Tarzan” can lift a fully loaded barge weighing 20,133 tons, setting a Guinness World Record for the lifting capacity of an overhead crane.

  The successful operation of the equipment has changed the traditional construction method of offshore oil drilling platforms, and realized the construction mode of parallel construction of semi-submersible platforms with upper and lower loading and closing in one step by a 20,000-ton crane, which shortens the construction time of each semi-submersible drilling platform. It saves 2 million man-hours, shortens the construction period of ships by more than 30%, and improves the construction quality, production efficiency and construction safety.

  According to reports, “Tarzan” crane has 6 patented designs, and won the title of “Best Machinery Award 2008” awarded by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. In 2008, the “Taishan” crane won the honorary title of “New Technology Award” at the Ocean Technology Conference held in Houston, USA, and the “Taishan” crane won the title of “Technology Innovation Award” at the 2008 Asian Maritime Exhibition.
